Hair Care Instructions
JC Hair is committed to ensuring that every customer is satisfied. Full satisfaction of all our products can be achieved by the following hair care instructions.
Bonding Adhesives and other Liquid Formulas
For your safety, all product formulas have undergone extensive testing to determine any potential adverse effects that may be experienced through their use. However, they may cause a minor irritation in a small percentage of individuals who have sensitive skin or a pre-disposition for skin allergies/irritations or both. Possible adverse reactions could include redness, irritation or mild dermatitis (estimated at less than 3% of cases)
In the unlikely event of any reaction to a product, you should discontinue usage and report the problem to JC Hair immediately. Allow the skin to heal completely before testing an alternative product.
Before using any products, we advise you to perform a skin patch test. These short term tests are conducted to confirm that a product is not a skin irritant.
Cleanse a small area ½” x ½” behind the ear with a mild shampoo. Allow to dry. Apply a small amount of adhesive directly to the cleansed area. Allow time to dry and cover with a small piece of tape. Leave in place for 24 hours covered. After 24 hours has elapsed, make a visual inspection of the area to be certain no redness, irritation, burning, itching, swelling or other abnormal reaction has occurred in or around the test area. If a negative result is found, then that particular adhesive may be used. If a positive result is discovered, use an alternative product (preceded by a skin patch test)
Unless otherwise stated, the liquid/tape adhesives we use are for ‘PERMANENT WEAR’. As stated by the manufacturers, the adhesion will last between 2 and 6 weeks. Like the description implies, they are the closest to a permanent bond. The period of adhesion is influenced by temperature, humidity and body oil levels. These products require skill to apply and should not be stressed for the first 24 hours otherwise the period of adhesion may be reduced substantially.
Hand Made Wefts
Never cut any part of the top of the wefts. These wefts are delicate. If they are cut, then we cannot guarantee that they will not shed.
Never sew through the top of the weft, as putting a needle through the weft will damage the wefts and cause shedding.
Untreated & Unmixed Full Cuticle Human Hair Maintenance:
Do not brush or comb curly hair when dry, it will cause frizz and the ends may tangle. Other types of hair are ok to comb when dry.
Shampoo at least once a week
Use a shampoo no higher than PH7
Dilute one ounce of shampoo in a bowl or jug with a pint of warm water
Sponge the shampoo through into the hair
Do not massage
Rinse thoroughly
Apply a conditioner and very gently comb hair, starting with the ends working your way up to your scalp
Rinse all of the conditioner out of your hair thoroughly
If you have curly hair, then scrunch up the hair gently to reform the curl
Ideally leave to air dry as excessive blow drying could damage the hair
Style as desired
Daily:
Brush or comb through to style very gently.
You may use styling aids, such as mousse, gel hand hair spray in moderation (preferably alcohol free products and products designed for European hair).
Before going to bed very gently comb your hair through and braid your hair into one loose large braid at the back of the neck. Alternatively tie your hair up using hair pins and wear a net cap.
Specific Conditions
Static:
In the colder months, you may experience some static. The best way to deal with this is to wet your hands with water and rub your hands together so that they are warm. Run the palms of your hands over your hair, without actually touching your hair. This process should help control the static.
Swimming:
It is not recommended that you swim with extension hair. However if you do so, the following precautions are recommended.
Never wear a swimming cap or any thing that covers your hair. The friction may cause matting.
Before swimming comb out tangles.
Braid hair into one braid at the back of the neck. Try to keep your head above water.
Immediately after showering undo the braid and comb your hair and ideally let it air dry.
Sauna: (not recommended for lace wig wearers)
Braid hair into one braid at the back of the neck.
The water of the sauna will penetrate the hair and wet it.
Do not wrap the hair in a towel, which will compress it.
After the sauna keep your head out of the shower.
Immediately after showering undo the braid and comb your hair and ideally let it air dry.
Sunbathing:
Braid hair into one braid at the back of the neck.
After sunbathing do not un-braid the hair until after the hair has cooled down.
Undo the braid and gently comb through.
Miscellaneous Instructions
You must remember at all times that your hair extensions are not attached to your scalp, thus it is not as durable as your own hair may be. Excessive or vigorous combing will result in unwanted shedding and damage the unit.
Although the extensions are real hair, it is not receiving nutrients from the scalp like your own hair. Excessive heat from blow drying could damage the hair . We cannot guarantee that the hair will remain as silky if you use a blow dryer, flat iron or curling irons.
When washing your hair, always wash it in a downward motion. Use your fingers in a horizontal motion between wefts to clean your scalp. When rinsing, do the same to be sure that all residues of shampoo and conditioner are washed out.
If you perm, tint, bleach or cellophane the hair, you do it at your own risk. We do not guarantee any hair that has been chemically altered. If you must chemically alter it, then be sure to do a test strand first. This will allow you to test how the hair will hold up to the chemicals. JC Hair will only guarantee its own work.
